The Diploma in Information Technology (DIT) is a two-year programme designed to provide students with strong foundational knowledge in computing, networking, databases, and software applications.
The programme blends theoretical concepts with practical training to prepare students for employment in IT support, database management, and entry-level software development, as well as progression into higher studies. -
Programme Duration:
• Two years (four semesters)
• Combines classroom instruction, hands-on labs, and project work
Students will be introduced to computer systems, networking, programming, databases, information systems, and emerging IT tools. -
Admission Requirements:
• WASSCE Applicants: Grades A1–D7 in 3 core subjects (English, Mathematics, Integrated Science/Social Studies) and 3 relevant electives.
• SSSCE/GBCE Applicants: Grades A–D in core and elective subjects, including English, Mathematics, and Integrated Science/Social Studies.
• Mature Entry: Applicants must be at least 25 years old and pass a mature entrance examination. -
This programme is ideal for students who want to build solid IT knowledge and practical computer skills.
It provides an excellent foundation for further studies in Computer Science, Information Technology, and related fields, while also preparing graduates for immediate employment. -
Graduates can pursue roles such as:
• IT Support Specialist
• Network Technician
• Database Assistant
• Systems Administrator (junior level)
• Software/Applications Support
The diploma also provides a pathway to Bachelor’s programmes in IT, Computer Science, and related areas at GCTU and other institutions. -
