• The BSc. Computer Science is a four-year undergraduate programme offered by the Department of Computer Science under the Faculty of Computing & Information Systems (FoCIS).

    The programme provides students with a strong foundation in programming, software engineering, systems design, data management, and emerging technologies.

    Applicants with a Diploma, HND, or equivalent qualifications in Computer Science or related fields from accredited institutions are eligible for top-up entry into advanced levels.

  • Aims of the Programme:

    To produce innovative, ethical, and entrepreneurial graduates who apply computer science knowledge, tools, and techniques to create relevant applications and systems that impact society.


    Objectives of the Programme:

    • Identify and analyse problems, and implement solutions using computer science tools.
    • Apply mathematical and engineering methods to computing challenges.
    • Demonstrate strong programming skills for problem solving.
    • Use software engineering practices to design quality software solutions.
    • Develop tools for enterprise management and coordination.
    • Pursue further studies in Computer Science or related programmes.
  • Admission Requirements:


    WASSCE Applicants: Credits (A1–C6) in 3 core subjects (English, Mathematics, Integrated Science) plus Elective Mathematics and any 2 electives.

    SSSCE Applicants: Credits (A–D) in 3 core subjects (English, Mathematics, Integrated Science) plus Elective Mathematics and any 2 electives.

    GBCE/ABCE Applicants: 3 credits (A–D) in GBCE core (English, Business Maths, Integrated Science) plus 3 ABCE subjects (IT, Hardware & Networking, Systems Analysis & Design).

    ‘O’/‘A’ Level Applicants: Five credits at ‘O’ Level (including English, Additional Maths, Physics, Chemistry) plus 3 ‘A’ Level passes (Additional Maths, Physics, Chemistry) and General Paper.

    Mature Applicants: Must be 25+ years, pass a written exam, and provide valid ID issued at least 5 years earlier.

    HND Applicants: HND in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering (2nd Class Lower or better). HND CS holders admitted to Level 300; HND E/E Eng. or Mech. Eng. holders to Level 200. 2 years post-HND experience required.

    2-Year Diploma Applicants: Diploma (2nd Class Lower or better) in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering admitted to Level 200.

    Foreign Applicants: Foreign qualifications evaluated by GTEC for equivalence.
